VINALHAVEN — The combined Vinalhaven/North Haven boys soccer team has been awarded the Class D South MPA Sportsmanship Award, according to an announcement from the Maine Soccer Coaches Association. 

The award serves as an acknowledgment of good sportsmanship displayed by the receiving teams for that season. The award is voted on by the receiving team’s opponents. 

Other recipients of the award this boys soccer season included Skowhegan (Class A North), Marshwood (Class A South), Waterville (Class B North), Morse (Class B South), Mattanawcook Academy (Class C North), Dirigo (Class C South) and Bangor Christian (Class D North). 

Recipients of the award this girls soccer season included Mount Blue (Class A North), South Portland (Class A South), Nokomis (Class B North), Greely (Class B South), Mattanawcook (Class C North), Telstar (Class C South), Maine School of Science and Math (Class D North) and Richmond (Class D South).
