VA Maine at Togus to host veteran, family open house

TOGUS — VA Maine HCS invites veterans and their families to attend the VA Maine Veteran & Family Open House at the Togus VA Medical Center, Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., at 1 VA Center, Augusta, Building 200 (Hospital).

This is an opportunity for Veterans and their families to learn about VA health care and benefits, meet VA Maine clinical staff, take a tour of the facility and new Fisher House, and learn about the history of the nation’s first VA.

There will be activities for children, including Santa Claus, face painting and more.

DETAILS:

Parking available at Building 200 – Parking Lot 2

9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

 Building 200- Main Hospital Lobby
o Walking Tours of the VA Maine Togus Campus and Fisher House

 Tours will leave the lobby every 15 minutes starting at 9 a.m., last tour will depart at 11 a.m. (tours will take about 1 hour)

 Meet and Greet with staff throughout the tours along VA Maine Street and learn about the facility’s history as the Nation’s first VA.

o Chaplain Service is inviting everyone to come together and “Celebrate our Veterans and the Holidays” with Pot-Luck, Music, and Sing-a-Long (singing practice begins at 12 p.m. and formal event will start at 1 p.m.) All are welcome.
