BELFAST - On February 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. a group will gather in solidarity with the international movement, V-DAY. "One Billion Rising,” a grassroots movement to stop violence against women and girls. Sparked by the first production  of "The Vagina Monologues,” a play written by Eve Ensler that sparked a movement  around the world, our voices continue to rise in resistance and truth telling.

The theme this year is “Turn Pain into Power.”

Join us to watch the documentary "City of Joy,” a film that follows the unlikely friendship that develops  between Congolese doctor Dr. Denis Mukwege (2016 Nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize) , playwright Eve Ensler and a charismatic Congolese human rights activist who join forces to create a safe haven for women survivors in the middle of violence -torn Eastern Congo.

The film will be followed by a circle for speaking out, sharing stories & poems, celebrating the continued growth of community awareness, and the strength and courage of women speaking out,  leaving us with the hope that change will happen! Join us. All are welcome.
