UPDATED: Oceanside wins three Busline basketball championships, Medomak 8th boys win nail-biter

WALDOBORO — The Busline League large school middle school basketball championship contests were held on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Medomak Middle School. 

7th Grade Girls: Oceanside 39, Medomak 17

Oceanside was the top-ranked seed and Medomak the second seed. 

Oceanside held quarterly advantages of 9-3, 14-8 and 24-13. 

Scoring for Medomak were Kyllie Blake (one point), Eliza Luce (eight), Sara Nelson (six) and Olivia Pelkey (two). 

Scoring for Oceanside were Jillian Barnard (three points), Caitlyn Lamb (nine), Sophie Vose (five), Natalee Hitz (one), Grace Webber (eight) and Sophie Daggett (13). 

7th Grade Boys: Oceanside 45, Medomak 36

Oceanside was the top-ranked seed and Medomak the second seed. 

Oceanside held quarterly advantages of 6-3, 23-14 and 30-29. 

Scoring for Medomak were Aaron Reed (11 points), Zan Nguyen (eight), Sam Moody (seven), Kory Donlin (five) and Connor Benner (five). 

Scoring for Oceanside were Larry Robbins (13 points), Carter Galley (12), Ben Tripp (eight), Nathaniel Thompson (four), Taygan McAllister (two), Cohen Galley (two) and Logan Mecklin (two). 

“Slavik Moody played exceptionally well [defensively], Nelson Weeks, Finian Kelly and Landon Tapley contributed on the floor with solid minutes and Henry Gamage, Sullivan Bartlett, Kolby Staples, Sebastion Smith and Austin Costa also provided support in the effort,” said Medomak coach Patrick Delahanty. 

“I can not be more proud of these young men as they fought hard throughout the contest overcoming a double digit deficit early and making a run in the 3rd period with exceptional execution on both ends of the floor,” Delahanty continued. “They came together with hard work throughout the season, improved tremendously and showed great resilience in a very well played game.”

8th Grade Girls: Oceanside 72, Camden-Rockport 31

Oceanside was the top-ranked seed and Camden-Rockport the second seed. 

Oceanside held quarterly advantages of 23-6, 39-15 and 57-22. 

Scoring for Oceanside were A. Hersey (three points), B. Stasulis (three), S. Hansen (two), A. Mackie (21), A. Hatch (two), G. van Buskirk (two), E. Sykes (!2) and A. Waterman (27). 

Scoring for Camden-Rockport were H. Christie (two points), E. Graffam (eight), G. Genthner (four), L. Howard (three) M. Hixon (eight), A. Cortese (two) and M. Dotsie (four). 

8th Grade Boys: Medomak 40, Troy Howard 37
