UMaine assistant coach to lead local field hockey clinic Jan. 26

NORTHPORT — Black Bear Elite Field Hockey is hosting a skills clinic for field hockey players at the Point Lookout Recreation Center with a special guest coach from the collegiate ranks. 

The Sunday, Jan. 26 clinic is open to all U14, U16 and U19 players, regardless of club or school affiliation. 

The skills clinic will be led by Michelle Simpson, the associate head coach of the University of Maine field hockey program. 

Simpson, who recently concluded her third season with the Orono university, previously spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Albany, where she earned conference first team honors, Offensive Player of the Year and Division I All-American honors during her three years at the institution. 

The cost for the clinic is $25, though players currently on a Black Bear Elite roster has already paid the fee through their session fees. 

The skills session will last one hour with an additional 30 minutes set aside for a Q&A period. 

U14 players will meet from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

U16 players will meet from 2:30 p.m. to 4: p.m.

U19 players will meet from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
