Trio of second half goals boosts Camden Hills boys soccer to victory

HAMPDEN — After entering halftime down 1-0, the Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team rallied in the second half with a trio of goals to secure a road victory Tuesday, Oct. 15 in Hampden against Hampden Academy. 

The visiting Windjammers collected a 3-1 victory and improved its record to 9-4. 

Windjammer goals were scored at the 30 minute, 22 minute and seven minute marks of the second half. 

Scoring for the Windjammers were Quinn Brown (Ben Owre assist), Jackson Fitch and Brown (Levi Guay assist). 

In the goalkeeper net, Casey Messer recorded three saves on six shots for Camden Hills while Colby Small tallied 14 saves on 24 shots for the hosts.

Camden Hills had seven corners, while Hampden Academy had one. 

"I was really pleased with the effort and proud of the boys with their performance,” said Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley. “We stuck with our game plan and believed in ourselves and put the work in necessary to mount a comeback. We showed a lot of character and got the result against a really well coached and hungry Hampden team.”

The Windjammers will conclude the regular season Friday, Oct. 18 against Cony at home with a 3:30 p.m. start. 

“We [...] are looking forward to trying to make some noise in the playoffs,” said Hurley.
