CAMDEN — Camden Public Library is holding its June Book Sale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 14, 15, and 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., each day.
The books will be on sale both indoors and outdoors at the Blue Door Book Shed adjacent to the parking lot reached from Atlantic Avenue, just past the Library's Amphitheater.
The sale will have books for all ages and tastes, and the tables will be restocked each evening to ensure that there’s a full selection to choose from no matter which day patrons shop.
The Library received another significant donation of books both new and old last month, and these new donations will be featured in the sale, according to the Library, in a news release.
Volunteers will be stocking the tables with everything from Maine guide books to fiction written by authors from around the world. There will be a full table of books for children of all ages, and as well as an array of non-fiction sorted across 20 categories, including biographies, histories, cooking, humor, pets and gardening. There will also be a selection of puzzles, CDs and DVDs for sale.
The book sales, which are held throughout the year, generate significant income for the Camden Public Library; during the most recent fiscal year they contributed more than $30,000 to the Library’s operating budget, and this year they are on track to do the same again.
This could not be done without support from the community both through donating books to the library so that they can be sold, and by buying books, CDs and DVDs at the sales, according to the release.
The Camden Public Library accepts donations of nice, well cared for books of any age and for any age (though not books with mold or mildew) at the Book Shed most Tuesdays, between 9 a.m. and noon, throughout the year.
