Thank you, Pilot Supporters, for walking with us through these turbulent days

A month ago, life on the Midcoast of Maine, as everywhere in the world, couldn’t have been more different than it is today. The news business here was occupied with gearing up for town meetings, budgets, the 2020 elections, focusing on the local economy, environment and social fabric, all those aspects that local and regional news outlets love to chronicle.

But it has all changed with COVID-19, or as some people are now simply calling the virus, “19.”

Like many others, writers and staff at PenBayPilot.com, are working at home, setting up permanent workstations at our kitchen tables or a favorite living room nest.

The news — local, statewide, national and global — is flying in at a fast and furious pace, and we are all working hard to keep our corner of the world informed so that we can all make smart decisions as we navigate uncharted waters.

Last week, we appealed to readers to help support us as we continue this work. Like all businesses in the world, we depend on a strong economy, and our model is sustained by advertising and supporter contributions.

    And guess what?

So many of you stepped up to become supporters in this time of global crisis!

We thank you, as well as all of our supporters who signed up earlier, from the bottom of our hearts, and pledge to you that we won’t stop bringing you the news, highlighting local and regional resources, and generally reporting on life in the Midcoast, the strength of community and what people here are capable of accomplishing.

We are fragile and resilient, strong and vulnerable, and we are all in this predicament together.

Thank you, Pilot Supporters! Stay well, stay healthy, and stay in touch!
