The Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Teen Ag Crew at Erickson Fields Preserve in Rockport is donating homegrown pumpkins to 30 local families in need. The 4-acre garden annually supplies thousands of pounds of produce to eight Midcoast pantries, school lunches, a retirement home, and local businesses.

This year, the Teen Ag Crew’s harvest is projected to top 20,000 lbs, according to the Heritage Trust, in a news release.

The Landing Place is a comprehensive youth program of the Knox County Homeless Coalition, supporting highly resilient and often marginalized youth living in Midcoast Maine. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Landing Place has adapted to meet the needs of families in the area. One way has been through regular deliveries of supplies.

Over the course of the past seven months, The Landing Place has delivered well over 1,000 bags of groceries, hygiene products, and art supplies to families in the Midcoast area.

“Thanks to this collaboration with Maine Coast Heritage Trust, The Landing Place will be delivering a bit of seasonal fun this week,” said the Trust.
