ROCKLAND — Lifetime birder Ann Boover will offer a field trip for birders of all ages and abilities to Rockland Harbor, Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
“Rockland Harbor in winter often is a safe place for eiders, guillemots, grebes, gulls and others as they venture to calmer harbor waters in search of food,” said Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, in a news release.
Registered participants will gather at at 10 a.m., at the Visitor Center, 9 Water Street, Rockland. The group will then head out to search for birds.
Dress warmly and bring binoculars if you have them (the Center will have a few to loan).
After looking for birds, the group will return to the center to warm up with hot cocoa. The movie, Counting on Birds, will be offered for those who wish to stay and learn about the Christmas bird count.
