Summer Songs: A Musical Revue and Preview by Watts Hall Community Players

THOMASTON — Watts Hall Community Players Back Live Join Watts Hall Community Players for “Summer Songs: A Musical Revue/Preview.” The exciting show will be performed live at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 2 and 3 in Watts Hall, at 174 Main Street, in Thomaston.

Numbers from favorite Watts Hall musicals will be performed, including The Music Man, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, South Pacific, The Pirates of Penzance and Once Upon a Mattress. As a special treat, the Players will present several numbers from a newly written musical, Count Me In.

“Fun for all ages, ‘Summer Songs’ is sure to get your feet tapping and bring a smile to your face,” said Players, in a news release.

The famous barbershop quartet from The Music Man will make an appearance, accompanied by the fast-talking ladies of River City, Iowa, in the famous Pick a Little-Talk a Little/Good Night Ladies number.

Joseph’s brothers will lament the good old days in the humorous Those Canaan Days

Watts Hall will be taken over by raucous pirates singing I Am the Pirate King and then a certain Major-General will sing about “information vegetable, animal, and mineral.” And the cast will make a jaunt to 15th century Europe when Princess Winnifred sings about how “Shy” she is, and the crafty Queen Aggravain plots how to test the “Sensitivity” of the princess.

“Summer Songs” opens on July 2 and 3. All cast members are fully vaccinated, and the audience will be required to wear masks.

Doors will open at 6:15 p.m., and a free-will offering/suggested donation of $10 will be collected there.

No advance tickets.
