The voting has been underway at Maine schools since mid-October, for the offices of U.S. President, U.S. Representative and U.S. Senate.
Chellie Pingree (D-North Haven) won the student vote for the District 1 U.S. Representative to Congress seat and Jared Golden (D-Lewiston) won for the District 2 U.S. Representative to Congress seat.
Full results are posted online at maine.gov/mockelection. Statewide results will be provided to the national mock election program for inclusion in national results.
"The mock election is a great opportunity for students to learn about democracy and feel prepared to exercise their right to vote in a few years," said Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap. “It's an important introduction to the process.”
Due to pandemic gathering restrictions, the mock election in-person Rally and Tally event was canceled this year, but students can experience the department’s new virtual tour of a polling place at thinglink.com/mediacard/1342866790862028803, created with the cooperation of Lewiston City Clerk Kathy Montejo.
