LINCOLNVILLE — The 26th Annual Strawberry Festival will be held Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Lincolnville Community Building and the United Christian Church (UCC) in Lincolnville Center.
The event offers a full array of fun activities for the whole family including a parade, puppet shows, children's games, and food galore.
The parade begins at 10 a.m., at Drakes Corner, and will feature the Lincolnville Band, vintage cars, and the Strawberry Queen, Adele Padden. Youngsters on their decorated bicycles will join the entourage at the Library and all will arrive at the Community Building at 10:30 a.m.
There will be musical entertainment throughout the day including the Lincolnville Band and Rosey and Friends performing from Rosey's uniquely designed Front Porch Stage.
Children's activities include face painting in the Parish Hall; "The Tale of the Mouse," a 15-minute puppet show in the church sanctuary; family flag making, and outside games led by the UCC's new minister, Pastor Elizabeth Barnum.
Everyone's favorite miniature horse, Annie Sue, from Moose Ridge Farm, will be once again joining the festivities, according to a news release.
The main attraction is the homemade strawberry shortcake with whipped cream. There will also be grilled hot dogs with Bob's famous onions and zucchini relish, sausage rolls, and popcorn.
Jams and other strawberry goodies will be for sale as well as this year's festival tee shirt designed by Sam and Susan Manning, and also special gifts, vintage items, and a cookbook of Lincolnville's favorite strawberry recipes.
History buffs will have a chance to visit the church which was built as the town meetinghouse in 1821. It has the original boxed pews, upper pulpit, balcony, and rippled glass windows and is on the Registry of Historic Places.
The Strawberry Festival is sponsored by the United Christian Church, an "all welcome" community church. The UCC takes great pleasure in organizing the fun-filled community event, according to the release.
Bring a lawn chair and plan to spend the day visiting with friends and enjoying the good food and entertainment.
The United Christian Church (UCC) is located at 18 Searsmont Road, Rt. 173, in Lincolnville Center.
