ROCKLAND — As part of the virtual Strand Family Series, The Boston-based “Castle Of Our Skins” will present a streamed concert of string quartets by Black composers that showcase African American spirituals. This family friendly show contains music, history and more. It will be available from May 1 - 16.
Tickets to stream the show are available on the Strand Theatre website, and are “Pay-What-You-Can;” ticket prices are set at $20, $10, $5, or $0, so that cost is not a barrier to attend. Performance time is 45 - 60 minutes.
Born out of the desire to foster cultural curiosity, Castle of our Skins is a concert and educational series dedicated to celebrating Black artistry through music. From classrooms to concert halls, Castle of our Skins invites exploration into Black heritage and culture, spotlighting both unsung and celebrated figures of past and present.

A live GREEN ROOM: Artist Chat interview with Castle Of Our Skins’ Artistic and Executive Director Ashleigh Gordon will take place on Tuesday, April 27, at 6 p.m., streamed from the Strand’s YouTube and Facebook pages; it will then be available on the Strand’s website.
During the chat, audience members will hear from Gordon about this organization, and get a preview of the upcoming Strand virtual performance. Viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions via the comment section on Facebook or YouTube.
