St. George School celebrates learning, student improvements

TENANTS HARBOR — This past June 13, nearly 200 Kindergarten through 8th grade students at the St. George School participated in an annual Celebration of Learning.

Celebrations of Learning are a key feature of schools that follow an EL – expeditionary learning – framework and are much more than a display of student work or an end of the year party.  With the support of their teachers, students showcase not only their high quality work and community service from classroom expeditions, but also speak openly to family and community members about their individual strengths, challenges, and growth as learners throughout the year.

This event followed closely on the heels of news that the students of St. George met significant growth goals on the NWEA Reading and Math tests. Those sustained academic results, added to the continued focus on character education and high quality student work, are important milestones on the school's journey to becoming a certified EL school.
