St. George Business Alliance panel to discuss local inns, restaurants

TENANTS HARBOR— The St. George Business Alliance (SGBA) invites members, aspiring entrepreneurs, and the public to a panel discussion titled “A Question of Focus: Four Unique Approaches to Serving Up Hospitality in St. George” on Tuesday morning, February 25.

The presentation will take place during SGBA’s monthly member meeting, scheduled for 9 a.m., at the Craignair Inn and Restaurant, 5 Third Street, in Spruce Head.

How do local inns and restaurants attract customers when they’re located “off the beaten path” in a small rural community at the end of a peninsula? How important to business success is finding the right “niche” and fitting into the existing business community? Why and how do new owners “rebrand” a successful, established business to make it their own?

These are just a few of the topics to be discussed by panel members Randy Deutsch, owner of the East Wind Inn, Wan-a-set Restaurant and Quarry Tavern in Tenants Harbor; Greg and Lauren Soutiea, owners of the Craignair Inn and Restaurant in Spruce Head; Emily Chadwick, owner of the Black Harpoon in Port Clyde; and Malcolm Bedell, owner of Ancho Honey, Tenants Harbor’s newest food venue. All are members of the St. George Business Alliance; they will discuss their businesses and their unique approaches to providing meals and lodging in St. George.

The SGBA is a local nonprofit trade association of businesses, individuals, civic and nonprofit organizations whose mission is to promote business and cultural prosperity in St. George.
