Splendor in the Glass auction, dinner for Penobscot Language School
ROCKLAND — Splendor in the Glass is the theme of an auction of hand-painted glasses by local artists during a gourmet dinner to be held at Penobscot Language School, 28 Gay Street, Rockland, on Thursday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m.
The dinner will start at 6 p.m., and the auction of glass items and selected wines will immediately follow dessert.
Local artists who have contributed the hand-painted glass pieces are: Angela Anderson, oils artist of Port Clyde; Laura Evans of Camden; Paula Horton; Steven Huyler , author, raconteur and expert on India, of Camden; Jean Kigel artist of Asian brush painting, watercolor, and Gyotoku, of Waldoboro; Annabel Parker, actor, singer and pianist of Rockport; Andres Pineda; and Margaret Saca.
The menu for the five-course dinner with wine offers the choice of a scallop or vegetarian appetizer; a cream of garlic soup (dairy-free); an arugula and tomato salad; an entrée choice of a beef, chicken, or portabella mushroom Wellington served with potato pavé and baby peas; and a dessert of a gluten-free chocolate cupcake with crème de menthe mouse with dark chocolate shavings.
The meal will be prepared by chef Leslie Filinow, owner of Earth Candy café and the Earth Flow and Fire yoga studio of Rockland.
There are a limited number of seats available. Individual seats are $65/person or purchase a table for eight people for $500.
