CAMDEN — Claude Bourbon, known throughout Europe and America for guitar performances that take Blues, Spanish and Middle Eastern stylings into uncharted territories, will present a SoundCheck show Friday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m., at the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St. The hour-long concert is sponsored by Blackberry Inn.
Bourbon is an acoustic guitar virtuoso of great speed and precision, according to the Opera House, in a news release.
“His fingering and arrangements are varied and eloquent, drawing from JJ Cale to JS Bach and beyond,” said COH.
Of French and Swiss background, Bourbon’s music, which includes songs, is rooted in multiple traditions. His latest CD, Home Cooked, was recorded during the Covid lockdown and he is touring for the first time since 2020.
Tickets for Claude Bourbon’s SoundCheck are $10, and advance purchase is encouraged via camdenoperahouse.com and 236-3154. Choose-your-own ticketing software ensures every-other-row distancing, as well as a couple of seats either side of each party’s reservation. Masks are encouraged in the building.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. SoundCheck also is livestreamed on the opera house’s Facebook page, no fee or link required.
In July, the opera house returns to full-capacity seating. To kick off the Independence Day weekend, the Friday, July 1, SoundCheck show by Roger Salloom will be free and general admission, no reservations required.
