Soggy Po Boys bring the sounds of New Orleans to the Strand stage

Event has passed

ROCKLAND — The Soggy Po Boys, native New Englanders who celebrate the sounds of the Big Easy, will be in concert Saturday, August 12, at 7:30 p.m., at the Strand Theatre.

The Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of their local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece, according to the Strand, in a news release. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz, the band includes traditional Caribbean tunes, as well as Meters funk, soul, and brass band / street beat music.

Band members are Stu Dias on vocals and guitar, Eric Klaxton on clarinet and soprano sax, Josh Gagnon on trombone, Nick Mainella on tenor sax, Mike Effenberger on piano, Brian Waterhouse on drums, and Scott Kiefner on bass.

Tickets are $15/Advance, $18/Day of Show. Beer and wine are available at concessions. To buy tickets, or for more information, visit www.rocklandstrand.com or call (207) 594-0070.

The Strand Theatre is located at 345 Main Street, Rockland.
