Incumbent Stanley Paige Zeigler, a Democrat, was challenged this election cycle in the race for State House District 96 by Republican Katrina Smith. 

The district serves the communities of Belmont, Liberty, Lincolnville, Montville, Morrill, Palermo and Searsmont. 

Zeigler, according to his PenBayPilot.com candidate questionnaire, has worked in several professions including ambulance attendant, operating room orderly, logger, special education teacher and drug rehab center counselor. 

Smith, according to her PenBayPilot.com candidate questionnaire, has worked in several professions including human resources, banking and real estate.
