CAMDEN — Visitors to the Camden Public Library during the month of March have had the opportunity to enjoy a show of oil paintings by artist Peter Yesis, according to the Library, in a news release. On Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m., the public will have an opportunity to take a deep dive into the story of how Yesis abruptly abandoned his engineering career to become a fine artist — from his wife Kim’s perspective.

“Most middle-aged men buy a sports car or get a hair replacement,” said Kim Yesis, in the news release. “At the peak of his earning potential, with tuition bills and parent care looming, Peter made a decision that could reignite his thirty-year marriage or spell its doom.”

Without an inkling of what it would mean, Kim rolled up her sleeves and set to work by his side. She documented this challenging journey to launch her husband’s fine art career in her book, Side by Side: Tales from Behind the Canvas, a 2019 Maine Literary Award finalist.

In her presentation, Kim Yesis will use readings, anecdotes, and imagery while recounting the emerging strength of her pen.

Kim has a BA from Rutgers University and an MA in Counseling from Marshall University. She has worked more than 35 years in business management and is a perpetual student of human nature. She lives with her husband, Peter, in Searsport.
