Seven local baseball, softball teams qualify for playoffs

The varsity baseball and softball regular seasons have concluded and seven teams, three in baseball and four in softball, from the Midcoast have qualified for the 2019 playoffs. 

In Class A, the preliminary round games will be held June 4, the regional quarterfinals June 6, the regional semifinals June 8, the regional finals June 12 and the state championships June 15. 

In Class B, the preliminary round games will be held June 4, the regional quarterfinals June 6, the regional semifinals June 8, the regional finals June 11 and the state championships June 16. 

In Class D, the preliminary round games will be held June 4, the regional quarterfinals June 6, the regional semifinals June 8, the regional finals June 11 and the state championships June 15. 

Qualifying for the playoffs in baseball are Medomak Valley, Searsport and Vinalhaven/North Haven. 

Qualifying for the playoffs in softball are Belfast, Medomak Valley, Oceanside and Searsport. 

Opening Round Playoff Schedules

In the Class B North baseball playoffs, fourth-seeded Medomak Valley will host 13th-seeded Caribou in the preliminary round Tuesday, June 4 at 3:30 p.m.

In the Class D South baseball playoffs, no teams are playing preliminary round games and top-seeded Searsport earned a bye in the regional quarterfinals. Thus, Searsport will host either fourth-seeded Greenville or fifth-seeded Forest Hills in the regional semifinals. 

In the Class D South baseball playoffs, no teams are playing preliminary round games. Thus, sixth-seeded Vinalhaven/North Haven will travel to third-seeded Buckfield. 

In the Class B North softball playoffs, fourth-seeded Medomak Valley will host 13th-seeded Presque Isle in the preliminary round Monday, June 3 at 3:30 p.m.

In the Class B North softball playoffs, fifth-seeded Oceanside will host 12th-seeded Maine Central Institute. 

In the Class B North softball playoffs, 11th-seeded Belfast will travel to sixth-seeded Foxcroft Academy. 

In the Class D South softball playoffs, no teams are playing preliminary round contests. Thus, fifth-seeded Searsport will travel to fourth-seeded Valley in the regional quarterfinals.
