WASHINGTON — Two complaints of threatening with dangerous weapons by individuals in Washington tied up deputies through a large portion of Saturday night, Aug. 17.

The first incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m., involving a juvenile who allegedly threatened to kill a family member with a butcher knife. Prior to arrival, the teenager had left the residence and the family member had been picked up by a relative.

Deputies Spear and Alcala searched the area and could not find the alleged assailant. They spoke with one neighbor who had seen the juvenile walking around with a knife and asking if anyone had seen the family member whom he had previously threatened. Deputies continued to search until the juvenile’s mother called back and stated she had talked to the youth, and he was back at home.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Alcala told the mother to have him come out of the house unarmed and his hands visible. The juvenile stepped out onto the deck but he had placed a rifle on the deck as well, in close proximity. Deputy Spear gave commands for the juvenile to which he did comply. The two deputies approached the youth tactfully and talked him away from the gun, according to the KCSO. The juvenile was detained without incident. The juvenile allegedly stated the gun was there as a scare tactic. He was transported to a medical facility for a psychological evaluation and remains there. Criminal charges are pending.

Also, Saturday night, just after midnight, Deputies from Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a threatening call on Razorville Road, in Washington.

Clinton Benner, 32, of Warren had showed up to a residence and allegedly held a knife to a male juvenile and stated he was going to “cut him,” according to the KCSO. The witness had tried to intervene in an argument that Benner was having with a female. That same witness also stated that he saw Benner attempt to cut the tires of another female’s vehicle prior to the altercation. Benner had left the area prior to law enforcement arrival.

Attempts were made to make contact with Benner, and Benner allegedly refused.

Deputies remained in the area for a few hours until they were confident that Benner had left.

Sergeant Wilcox from Waldoboro Police Department assisted the Deputies as well.

A temporary warrant has been issued for Benner’s arrest with charges of Criminal Threatening with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief and a probation violation.
