CAMDEN — Gardener John Fromer will teach a class on everything gardeners need to know about getting ready for spring, Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
This course will teach the basics of garden planning including garden sighting and placement, seed biology, selecting good seed varieties, and starting and propagating seeds indoors. Each guest will plant two flats of selected flower and vegetable seeds for growing and transplanting at home.
John Fromer has been a Maine Master Gardener since 1998 and runs Appleton Ridge Flower and Vegetable Farm with his wife, Kathy, also a Maine Master Gardener. Together they grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs in a sustainable and authentic fashion.
This program is the first of three weekend gardening workshops hosted at Merryspring this season, and part of the Weekend Workshop series. The cost of this class is $45 and includes all materials, with a discounted rate of $40 for Merryspring members. Guests must pre-register and pay by March 25.
Merryspring is a community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round.
The park is located at the end of Conway Road, just off of Route 1 in Camden behind Hannaford Shopping Plaza.
