SEARSPORT — In celebration of the Town of Searsport's 175th Birthday during the year 2020, a series of year long festivities kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 13 (the anniversary of when the town was incorporated), with the current Searsport Selectmen (in costume) reenacting Searsport's first Town Meeting.
This will take place Feb. 13, beginning at 10 a.m., in the Searsport Methodist Church Vestry.
Searsport Town Historian, Charlene Knox Farris, will act as "Narrator" of the event. The audience members will be participating as well, being called upon to actually vote to "name" the town. (There was a debate about what to name the town. "Searsport" was not the first choice, according to organizers, in a news release.)
This event is free, and open to the public.
