Run, bike, or both during Camden Snow Bowl Trail Fest

Event has passed

CAMDEN — The Camden Snow Bowl, will host Baxter Outdoors’ 6th trail running and 2nd and final duathlon event in the New England Trail Series season, Saturday, October 5, as part of the fourth annual Camden Snow Bowl Trail Fest, presented by Baxter Outdoors, Trail Runners of Midcoast Maine, and Midcoast Maine New England Mountain Bike Association, along with many other supporters.

Racers can bike, run, or both, and team registrations are welcome.

The 5K run climbs one side of Ragged Mountain, rewarding the runner with views from the top of the triple chair before winding down the Pitch Pole Trail to return to the lodge.

The 10K bike will climb the same Kuller Trail, but diverge off onto the single-track of Ragged Mountain before dropping down the G5 Connector and looping around the Goose River Trails. There will also be a 3K run option for those wanting to experience trail running without the 1,000-foot climb. This event will take place rain or shine, and is not to be missed!

Race registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Camden Snow Bowl, with a shotgun start for the 5K run at 10 a.m.

Racers can also pre-register at www.baxteroutdoors.com. A discounted youth registration for all events is available.

This is a sponsored fundraiser event, so every mile biked will raise money for Midcoast Maine NEMBA thanks to Sidecountry Sports, and every mile run will raise money for Teens to Trails thanks to Bangor Savings Bank.

Not a runner or a biker? Come for the Festival. Co-produced by the Trail Runners of Midcoast Maine and the Midcoast Maine New England Mountain Bike Association, the Fest will feature food vendors, live music by The Brad Hutchinson Project, gear tents, information tables, bike demos, and more.

On Sunday morning at the Snow Bowl, enjoy breakfast and beautiful fall views during the first Pancakes and Chairlift Rides event of the season. Hosted by Ragged Mountain Ski & Snowboard Club every Sunday in October, pancakes will be served from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. After breakfast ends, The Big T Snack Shack will be providing picnic lunches and beverages to enjoy. Chairlift rides are from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Two distinctly different Trail Fest lodging partners are ready and waiting for you to make it a weekend, according to Trail Fest, in a news release. For camping accommodations race organizers are partnering again this year with the Megunticook Campground by the Sea, located in Rockport. The campground will be offering a camping discount during the weekend of the event to all registered racers.

For less rustic accommodations, long-time partner Birchwood Lodge and Farmette in Camden will be offering a $99/night special with breakfast included, only for Trail Fest racers.

Both lodging options are just a few miles from the Snow Bowl.
