BREWER — The Maine Department of Transportation will be opening a new bridge on Route 1A, Wilson Street, which carries traffic over I-395 in Brewer.

The bridge is anticipated to open on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, but may be delayed in the case of inclement weather, according to MDOT, in a news release. All traffic on Route 1A heading east and west will utilize the new bridge.

“We encourage the traveling public to stay alert while driving through the new traffic pattern,” said MDOT.

Westbound traffic on Route 1A entering I-395 via ramp C will continue to use the existing, temporary roadway while a new ramp is being constructed. It is anticipated that this on-ramp construction will be completed in mid-August, 2021, at which point all traffic will be shifted to the new bridge, according to the release.
