Route 17 Rockport crash sends two to hospital

    ROCKPORT – On July 28, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne and Rockport Officers Travis Ford, Celjeta Bixhaku and Tony Del Vecchio, along with the Rockport Fire Department, resoponded to the area of 180 Rockland Street for the report of a two vehicle crash with injuries.

    Jane Johanson, 53, of Hoboken, N.J, was operating a 2007 Volvo and stopped in traffic waiting to turn left into The Green Thumb, according to a news release from Chief Gagne.

    Roxanne Wakefield, 63, of Warren, and passenger Caryl Kolkin, 90, of Rockport, were traveling West on Rockland Street in a 2010 Chrysler sedan and struck the rear of Johanson’s vehicle.

    Kolkin and Johanson were transported to Pen Bay Medical Center by Northeast Ambulance and both vehicles were removed from the scene by Camden Exxon.

    The crash remains under investigation by Officer Ford and Officer Bixhaku.
