Rockport woman charged after stabbing incident in Hope

    HOPE — An Appleton man is recovering from stab wounds following an alleged motor vehicle collision on the Smith Road, in Hope, on Friday, July 24.

    At approximately 7 p.m., Knox Regional Communications Center received information of two individuals fighting in the road. According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, damages to nearby vehicles were noted and believed to be consistent with a reported collision.

    “Upon further investigation it was determined that the male victim of Appleton, was assaulted and sustained injuries during the assault, according Chief Deputy Patrick Polky. “All injuries were to his chest and neck area. The wounds were a direct result of an alleged assault on him by Jessica Lermond, 33, of Rockport.” 

    The male was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

    Responding deputies Lt/Det Walker, Detective Murray, sergeants Arthur Smith and Paul Spear, and deputies Drew Graham and Tim Davis determined that Lermond and the male had previously been in a relationship. And although charges have been brought, the full circumstances around the incident are still under investigation, according to Polky.

    Lermond was taken to Knox County Jail and charged with:

    Domestic Violence Elevated Aggravated Assault: Class A
    Domestic Violence Reckless Conduct: Class C
    Driving to endanger: Class C
    Violation Conditions of Release: Class E
