ROCKPORT — Police in Rockport arrested Gary Simmons, 47, of Rockport, Oct. 4, and have charged him with Aggravated Forgery, for allegedly passing a $100 bill.

 

Employees at Circle K store on Commercial Street (Route 1) reported to police on Sept. 19 that Simmons allegedly used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for gas.

 

Police said Oct. 5 in a news release that Simmons attempted to pass a second $100 dollar bill on Oct. 2.

 

“Sgt. James Moore obtained an arrest and search warrant which were executed on Oct. 4 by Rockport and Camden Police,” said Camden-Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne in a news release. “Simmons was taken into custody without incident at his residence. Two additional counterfeit 100 bills were located, as well. The investigation revealed that the suspect did not reproduce the bills. The money used was a replica type ‘Funny Money.’

 

“We remind merchants to pay close attention to all bills they receive.”

 

Sgt. Moore was assisted by Camden Officers Wesley Butler, Jonathon Morgan, and Chief Randy Gagne.
