ROCKLAND — Visit Rockland in October and check out amazing scarecrows and the fun, fall atmosphere, according to Rockland Main Street, in a news release.
Original, one-of-a-kind scarecrows will be displayed throughout the downtown and the City of Rockland between Saturday, Oct. 5 and Thursday, Oct. 31.
Scarecrow Days celebrates Autumn and the creativity of the residents, nonprofits, and businesses of the City of Rockland.
The event is free and open to the general public. Individuals, families, artists, businesses, schools, clubs, and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to participate.
Scarecrows may be displayed any time after Saturday, October 5 through Friday, November 1. Judging will occur in October, with awards given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries.
To acquire a free scarecrow frame, participants should send an email to email@example.com, or call 593.6093 during regular business hours.
Participants may use their frame to create their own original scarecrow. To be included in the judging process, additional information and event rules are available upon request.
Rockland Main Street, Inc. encourages the public to take photos of the scarecrows and share them on social media by checking in at www.facebook.com/RMSIDowntown/; and with the hash tags: #rocklandscarecrowdays, and #somuchhappensinrockland.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate fall, the creativity of City residents and businesses, and the 10th anniversary of Rockland Main Street, Inc.,” said Livka Farrell, Scarecrow Days Committee chair, in a news release. “Rockland Main Street, Inc. events would not be possible without a large group of dedicated volunteers.”
Rockland Main Street, Inc. is a focused partnership of residents, businesses, and local government that enhances and protects the unique sense of place and economic vitality of downtown Rockland.
Now in its 11th year, the nonprofit downtown revitalization organization produces the Festival of Lights celebration over Thanksgiving weekend and the Summer Solstice Street Party and Dock Party in June.
