ROCKLAND — Friday, February 12  would have been the 8th Annual Rockland Public Library Open House – a celebration of, and Valentine to, the greater Rockland community.

“The Library is saddened not to be able to hold this beloved event, but staff created a safer alternative, for this time of masks and physical distancing,” said the Library, in a news release.

Beginning on Friday, February 12 and continuing through Saturday, February 20 (or while supplies last) the Library will give away “Love Your Library; Your Library Loves You” bags, filled with items that they hope will give people the same cozy feeling that the Open House did. Included will be two cans of soup, drinking chocolate from Bixby Chocolates, one warm scarf, and a heart craft kit created by local artist Naomi Howe.

These bags may be picked up during the Library’s open hours (Mon-Fri: 10 AM -5 PM and Sat: 10 AM -1 PM). One per person, please; bags must be picked up in person.

The bags are free and supplies are limited.

“Grateful thanks to the soup donors and special thanks to the many scarf makers,  Naomi Howe, and Bixby Chocolates,” said RPL.

For more information or with questions, please call the Library at 594-0310.
