Rockland Rotary thanks local blood donors

Tue, 12/28/2021 - 1:45pm

The Rockland Rotary Club would like to thank all the local blood donors for another successful Blood Drive held on December 17.  The American Red Cross staff reported that they saw 30 people, including two first-time donors, and collected 24 units. Eleven of the 24 units were type O blood, which is a great help since our inventory for O blood is currently very low.

The American Red Cross had a record year for blood drives at the Owls Head Community Center, sponsored by the Rockland Rotary Club.

In the six blood drives they ran in 2021, the staff saw 197 people, including 13 first-time donors, and collected 190 units of blood. That’s 60% more than was collected last year and more than any other year, according to the records in the Red Cross database, which go back to 2015.

Without sponsors like the Rockland Rotary club, the American Red Cross could never fulfill its mission of helping patients in need. Rockland Rotary thanks the local donors who helped them achieve this distinction.
