ROCKLAND – Rockland police are warning the public about a scam that was recently reported to the department.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page Nov. 27, police learned that expensive stereo equipment was being sold in local parking lots for very low prices.

Rockland Police Chief Chris Young confirmed that to date, one citizen has filed a complaint with police.

The person purchased the equipment at the public lot and then learned it was not the quality that was advertised by the sellers.

“We want to remind folks that deals that seem too good to be true, especially ones not from a reputable dealer/store, are often not true and a scam,” police said. “We ask everyone to shop smartly this holiday season.”
