ROCKLAND — The Rockland Police Department donated a little over $550 to the Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) Food Pantry and several jackets and other items to the Salvation Army on July 17, according to a news release on its facebook page.

The money and other items were all lost or found property that had been turned into the Rockland Police Department over the past several years. The items were never claimed.

“When items are turned into the Rockland Police Department or when an officer locates lost items while on patrol, officers make every effort to try to identify the owner and return the property,” according to the news release.

All other property is posted in accordance to Title 25 and held for at least six months after such posting, often for longer. After such time, when money and/or usable items are not claimed the items are donated to a nonprofit organization or charity.
