Riverhawks girls soccer fights to scoreless tie in regular season finale

DAMARISCOTTA — The Medomak Riverhawks girls soccer team hit the road Friday, Oct. 5 to challenge Great Salt Bay in the regular season finale. 

By the end of the long game that went to two sudden death overtimes, neither team had been able to net a goal thus the contest ending in a 0-0 tie. 

The two teams will meet again in the opening round of the Busline League playoffs with Medomak being awarded the fourth seed and Great Salt Bay the fifth seed. Medomak will host the match on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m.

In the Friday contest, Medomak head coach Andrea Williamson noted “both teams played well” with the Riverhawks having the ball in their scoring end about 20 percent more than the hosts. 

In the second half, Williamson noted Medomak had the ball in their scoring end about 30 percent more than Great Salt Bay. 

Williamson noted great defense was played by Medomak’s Haley Puchalski, Cindy Shelmerdine, Lizzy Steel, Skylah Ward, Madison Boynton and Kendra Gladue.
