CAMDEN — The semi-annual Cash for Clothes Sale to benefit Coastal Opportunities will be held Saturday, May 18 through Monday, May 20, at the American Legion Hall on Pearl Street in Camden.

The Cash for Clothes Sale is the major community fundraising event to benefit Coastal Opportunities, an agency to assist adults with intellectual disabilities to become participating members in the social and economic community.

If you wish to sell clothing at the Sale, you must pre-register. Clothing will be sold on a 50/50 basis, with half of the profit going to the seller, and half to Coastal Opportunities. When selecting clothing to sell, remember that only good quality Spring and Summer clothing will be accepted for this sale. You will register your name and address, be given identification tags, lists for clothing, and instruction sheets. If you can’t come yourself to pre-registration, a friend can do it for you. Do not bring your clothing to sell to pre-registration unless you wish to donate clothes to the workshop.

Cash for Clothes has planned two weekends for pre-registration, which will be held at Coastal Opportunities on 35 Limerock Street in Camden. If you want to sell clothing at the Sale, you may pre-register Friday, May 3, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., or Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Pre-registration will also be held Friday, May 10, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“Cash for Clothes has always been proud to offer good clothing at bargain prices, so we cannot accept garments that are torn, stained, or out of season,” said organizers, in a news release.

Clothing items from any season will be accepted as donations for the Sale, at Coastal Opportunities on 35 Limerock Street, in Camden, any time during the year. If you wish to donate, the entire proceeds from the sale of your clothing to Coastal Opportunities, you do not need to pre-register. Simply take your clothing to Coastal Opportunities any time before the Sale. Volunteers will tag and price the clothing for you.

Cash for Clothes welcomes new volunteers to work on various aspects of the sale. Times are available both prior to and during the Sale.

“This is a wonderful way to contribute to the community, help clients of Coastal Opportunities, and meet new people,” organizers said.

Volunteers who work four or more hours qualify to attend the Cash for Clothes Pre-Sale. If you wish to volunteer or have questions about joining the volunteer staff, call Nancy Wolfertz at 594-5429.

Eastern Tire will be sponsoring the spring sale. Eastern Tire will be underwriting a significant portion of the operating costs associated with staging the Cash for Clothes spring sale.

“We are extremely grateful to Eastern Tire for providing this sponsorship, as their financial support will allow our committee to donate more of the sale's proceeds to Coastal Opportunities,” organizers said.
