ROCKPORT — “Coastal Mountains Land hosts the most exciting, most scenic trail race of the year: Thrill of the Hill,” said CMLT, in a news release.
This community-friendly race takes place Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 9 a.m., at Beech Hill Preserve.
Runners of all levels and speedy walkers are welcome.
The 3.7-mile trail race begins and ends atop Beech Hill at the stone hut. Runners will start downhill on the gravel Farm Road Trail, then turn onto the new Extension Trail. Runners will continue onto Erickson Fields Preserve and its trails and make a small loop before returning to the same route, with a steady climb uphill. All trails are 6-10ft wide with gravel or dirt surfacing and minimal roots and rocks.
Sign up as an individual or register as a team of 3-5 runners with your final times averaged together. Prizes will be given to the top three individual and team finishers.
“Bring your family, challenge your friends, experience one of the Midcoast’s most magical places, and run on a bold, but accessible course at the 2023 Thrill of the Hill Race,” said CMLT.
Race sponsor is Maine State Credit Union; participant registration will directly support the improvement of Beech Hill and its trails.
