Red Barn Marketplace's first Maine Artist/Author Showcase on July 22
Known as "the hidden gem" of Lincolnville, Red Barn Marketplace & Bakery, just off Route One (2060 Atlantic Highway, Lincolnville) will be hosting its first Maine artist and author showcase on Saturday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event is open to the public.
Maine Chefs' gourmet jams, salsa and sauces will offer some delicious samples as you browse the the first and second floors of the barn, which features some truly inventive and uniquely Maine artists and authors among a vast array of antiques, furniture, collectables and jewelry, small house wares and more.
Authors Barbara Lawrence (Ben's Story, Islands of Time) and K. Stephens (The Ghost Trap) are among Red Barn Baking Co.'s literary vendors and will be on hand to answer questions about the subculture of Maine's fishing communities and sign copies of their novels.
Other fine artists, such as photographer Lorain K. Francis, will have the stories behind her ethereal shots of hidden Maine, along with portrait artist, Abe Goodale, with his fine watercolor paintings and postcards of Maine lobstermen.
The Makers who work with their hands will also talk about their process such as Kris Brown, who creates colorful woven cotton bowls; Patti Young, who creates handmade Common Scents soap from goat milk; and crafters Lyndsay Tufo and Jeannie Delamarco, who make terra cotta pots with lobsters and flower decorations.
Come meet the people who live, work and interpret Maine through their creative lives and enjoy some of the Bakery's gourmet pastries and cookies.
