BELFAST —  The Game Loft has launched the Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is: Pantry Challenge Fundraiser. The Pantry Challenge is a quest to eat as much of the food you already have, with little to no grocery shopping, or to curb your habits eating out in favor of preparing food at home.

“We hope this fundraiser will be a fun exercise for individuals and families to get creative in the kitchen, to challenge their culinary skills and taste buds, cook together, and develop sustainable habits they can employ well into the future,” said Game Loft Marketing and Development Coordinator, Allison Harrell, in the release.

The purpose is threefold: reduce your food and packaging waste, develop healthy and sustainable habits, and raise money for a great cause, according to the Game Loft, in a news release. All proceeds will benefit the Game Loft a 501c3 nonprofit providing free, out-of-school-time Positive Youth Development programming to Waldo County youth for over 22 years. 

How does is work? Visit thegameloft.org/ pantry-challenge/ to register and learn more about the challenge options. You can chose from a number of options including: the classic Pantry Challenge; The Home Brew Challenge, which invites you to say ‘Ciao’ to that $2-5 cup of coffee in favor of your own fresh morning brew; The Bento Box Challenge, to pack a healthy, zero-waste lunch daily; and more.

Take the challenge for as many weeks as you want from March 1 - April 12. Choose your designated weekly donation based on your projected savings, and mail your check made payable to the Game Loft to 78A Main St.; Belfast, ME 04915 or make your donation at thegameloft.org/donate/.

Prizes will be given to those who complete the full 6-week challenge at any level.
