CAMDEN – Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School will offer two public tours of the organization’s new home at 5 Mountain Street on July 18 at 12 p.m. and August 16 at 3 p.m.
The tour is an opportunity for the public to see and learn more about the reuse of one of Camden’s historic buildings as a music center. Originally built as a church, the building has been a grange hall and most recently a health spa.
Bay Chamber purchased the building (formerly known as High Mountain Hall) in 2022, which is currently halfway through a two-year, $8 million dollar renovation and addition.
The completed Bixler Music Center will be a fully accessible 7,769 square-foot building with a concert hall, ample teaching and office space and parking.
The tour will provide a view of the renovation and information on how anyone who loves music can be a part of its future when the renovation is completed.
In 2022, Bay Chamber launched a fundraising campaign for the purchase and renovation of its new home and has less than $1 million left to raise.
All are welcome to stop by for a walk-through of the space, slated to open in June 2024. For more information or to learn how to get involved, call Josie Davis at 207.236.2823 or visit baychamber.org/home-of-our-own-campaign.
