ROCKLAND — The Rockland Public Library presents a preview screening of the 2018 documentary film Bisbee ‘17, directed by Robert Greene, on Thursday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m.  

This event is a collaboration with POV, PBS’ nonfiction film series. Bisbee ’17 will air on POV on Monday, July 15. 

Radically combining documentary and scripted elements, Bisbee '17 follows several members of the close-knit community in Bisbee, Arizona, a former mining town, as they commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Bisbee Deportation, when 1,200 immigrant miners were violently taken from their homes by a deputized force, shipped to the desert on cattle cars and left to die.

The film was an Official Selection of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

The event, sponsored by Friends of  Rockland Public Library, is free and open to the public.
