ROCKLAND — A captured-live broadcast of Present Laughter from London’s National Theatre will be presented Friday, Nov. 29, at the Strand Theatre. Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Matthew Warchus directs Andrew Scott (BBC’s Sherlock, Fleabag) in Noël Coward’s provocative comedy Present Laughter.

As he prepares to embark on an overseas tour, star actor Garry Essendine’s colourful life is in danger of spiraling out of control. Engulfed by an escalating identity crisis as his many and various relationships compete for his attention, Garry’s few remaining days at home are a chaotic whirlwind of love, sex, panic and soul-searching.

“Present Laughter is a giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire and loneliness,” said Strand, in a news release.

The show was captured live from The Old Vic in London during summer 2019, where it received 5-star reviews.

Approx. running time: 3 hours.

Tickets: $12.50/General Admission, $10.50/Strand Members.
