CAMDEN — Maine Master Gardener John Fromer will lead an outdoor talk on preparing the garden for winter on Tuesday, October 5, at 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
Putting the garden to bed for winter is an important step in maintaining a healthy garden. In this program, John Fromer will demonstrate how to winterize the perennial garden using time-saving methods that are simple and easy to learn. Fromer will also speak about how preparing a garden in fall encourages growth in spring, and show the proper way to plant fall bulbs.
Fromer has been a Maine Master Gardener since 1998 and runs Appleton Ridge Flower and Vegetable Farm with his wife Kathy, also a Maine Master Gardener. Together they grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs in a sustainable and authentic fashion. He currently serves on the Merryspring board of trustees.
This talk is part of Merryspring's Outdoor Summer Talk series, sponsored by First National Bank.
Outdoor Talks are held in a distanced manner in the Hexagon at Merryspring.
The cost of this program is $5 for the general public, with a free admission for Merryspring members. No preregistration is necessary for this event.
