SEARSPORT — Searsport Shores Ocean Campground, 216 West Main St./Route 1 and the Makers Guild of Maine invite everyone to join in the fun at the campground for an old fashioned, porch-picking party, guided jam session Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 5-7 p.m.
Back by popular demand, Resa Randolph is a singer/songwriter from Rockport and a member of Miner's Creek Bluegrass Band who will lead the next two jamming sessions. Frequently praised for her powerful voice and vibrant personality with witty and soulful lyrics, she is primarily an acoustic guitarist although she loves to throw some claw hammer banjo into the mix.
Free snacks are served by Maine Glacial Seafood which often include steamed mussels, clams and oysters on the half shell. Hands-on rag weaving demonstrations are ongoing and throwing clay with Russell Kahn. Maker's Market vending tables are also available for all ages. You make it, you can sell it here. There is no charge for vending, local businesses are also welcome to setup to showcase their products and services.
Future weeks will include musician hosts the DeNicolo duo, fiddling and singing with Emily Horne Jeffries, Ando Anderson and many more.
These are fun, guided community jams, not performances, so everyone is encouraged to bring their instruments, voices and songs to share. All genres of music are played or attempted.
Wednesday at the Shores culminates with two musical weekends in September featuring Bluegrass Jam Camp and the Old Time Music Camp-out.
