CAMDEN — Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St., welcomes back the Helen Hayes’ Happenstance Theater for a matinee performance of “Pocket Moxie” Sunday, July 24, at 2 p.m. The family show, also family priced, runs about 75 minutes.
Maryland-based Happenstance Theater is a professional ensemble that produces original, performer-created, visual, poetic performances.
“Pocket Moxie” pays homage to the style and spirit of the Great Age of Vaudeville with slapstick comedy, tight harmonies and celestial charades. Five versatile players breathe new life into classic old routines, from a ventriloquist’s dummy to a magic act that goes awry; and from novelty songs and a musical saw to waiters juggling meatballs, all with full live “Foley” sound effects.
“Happenstance Theater’s touring ‘Pocket Moxie’ is fun for all ages, the perfect summer afternoon treat,” said the Opera House, in a news release.
Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for kids age 5-18; and $1 for younger children. Choose-your-own reserved seats are available online at camdenoperahouse.com or by calling 236-3154 in advance; seats will be assigned on a next-best-available at the door.
