Reacting to challenges of spouse/caregiver to Alzheimer’s Disease; moments in a day fondly remembered

TENANTS HARBOR — Jackson Memorial Library, in Tenants Harbor, is hosting an exhibition featuring photographer Sara Holbrook and painter Will Kefauver through June 28. A reception will be held, Thursday, June 20, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Holbrook, a summer resident of St. George, uses herself as a mannequin to express the various reactions she has in response to the challenges she faces as a spouse/caregiver of a person with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She combines levity as a means to express deeper meanings. Sometimes these reactions show the frustrations, sometimes they show a silly release of fantasy or escape, and sometimes they show the various roles played by a caregiver, according to the Library, in a news release.

Damariscotta resident Will Kefauver is a student of light, surface and color, using these to make his paintings recollections of places he’s been, moments in a day fondly remembered or a scene observed.

His first love is the landscape and the colors and shapes defined by the changing light. Of particular fascination is the abstraction found in nature — whether in the forms of clouds doused by light or the reflections playing on Maine’s water.
