ROCKPORT — Pen Bay Medical Center, in Rockport, and Waldo County General Hospital, in Belfast, have established respiratory evaluation centers providing COVID-19 testing outside their main facilities.

“These centers are not walk-in testing centers,” according to the hospitals.

PBMC’s center is temporarily located in the building that was the Skin Center.  Signage indicates ARC 8 Wellness Ave.  As part of that set-up there is a tent in the parking lot behind the building.

WCGH’s center is temporarily located at 146 Northport Ave.  As part of that set-up there is a tent in the parking lot behind the building.

A patient must have a referral from a provider in order to be evaluated or tested at these centers.

In order to access a test, those experiencing symptoms must call their doctor to determine whether testing is appropriate.

“Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital are working diligently to meet the needs of our community and this process allows us to provide safe and efficient care,” said spokesperson Jenifer Harris.
