Pecha Kucha night returns to the Camden Opera House

CAMDEN— The next PechaKucha Night, an evening of visual storytelling, will take place on Friday, November 9 at the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm Street, Camden. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 (cash) at the door. A reception immediately follows the program.

The PechaKucha format is a unique presentation style where 8 individuals share their work, ideas, and creative process with a 20-second-per-image, 20-image slideshow. Each of the evening’s presenters will provide a six minute and 40 second glimpse into their craft.  

PechaKucha Midcoast’s November 2018 edition (Volume 36) includes presenters Kim Bernard, Rockland Library art installation; Jackie Brown, Artist/Sculptor;  Elizabeth Fox, Artist/Painter; Bo Hoppin, Executive Director of Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership; Alexis Iammarino and Maeve O’Regan, Exhibition catalogue for Hole History: Origins of the American-Style Donut; Ni Rong, Photographer; Laura Seaton, WindowDressers; and Anne Simpson, Educator, Juniper Hill School. 
The evening’s emcee is multi-disciplinary artist Ariel Hall.

For Volume 36, the Lead Sponsors are Camden Real Estate and Harbor Square Gallery. The Reception Sponsor is Flatbread Company. PechaKucha Night Midcoast Maine's organizing partners include the Center for Maine Contemporary Art; Farnsworth Art Museum; Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors; Midcoast Magnet; Strand Theatre; Waterfall Arts; and various creative community members.

PechaKucha Night, devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture), was conceived in 2003 in Tokyo as a place for young designers to meet, network and show their work in public.
