Committing outrageous pranks to draw attention to global warming, climate crisis

Peace and Justice Group to screen ‘The Yes Men Are Revolting’

BELFAST — Need a laugh in November? Come to the Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County's monthly forum, Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m., at the Belfast Free Library.

The group is showing The Yes Men Are Revolting, a documentary directed by Laura Nix, starring the notorious activists who use the aliases Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno, according to Peace and Justice.

The two "stars" and their team join together again to commit outrageous pranks to draw international attention to global warming and the climate crisis. For over a decade, the Yes Men have repeatedly been able to gain international press coverage with some of their escapades impersonating corporate executives and government officials, successfully using the media to "help" them expose corporate wrongdoing through satire and humorous escapades. Their purpose, however, is a serious one; to draw attention to the struggles of communities threatened by greedy exploitation of the environment and to the projects that contribute to the climate crisis, using laughter as their strongest weapon.

“Join us for a fun evening, in the midst of so much tough news,” said Peace and Justice, in a news release.

The film is free, donations welcome.

All are welcome.
